Mathematician by day, Zumba instructor by night

Every wonder how a PhD student who is studying numerical methods to solve systems of equations finds some stress relief? Well the answer for this one is a good hour of dancing and listening to rhythms from across the world every couple of days. Zumba class.

While this may not be the traditional answer, for me it makes sense. Music is filled with mathematical patterns and dancing has been shown by some studies to be fuel for the brain.

Somewhere deep inside the many tangles of neurons in our brains the patterns and repetition associated with music and dancing are a form of medication, in some strange way.

Maybe its a reaction-diffusion equation, maybe it is much more complicated than that.
